Today’s generation, called ‘Gen Z’, is struggling with problems like early fatigue, wrinkles on the face and sagging cheeks. Generally youth are considered to be full of energy and freshness, but this perception seems to be changing among people born after 1995. Habits like screen time, stress, fast food, and lack of sleep have emerged as major reasons behind this problem.
Main reasons why Gen Z appears to be aging quickly
1. Unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits
- Increasing trend of fast food: Eating more fried and processed foods increases swelling and weakness in the body.
- Lack of nutrients: Dependence on junk food instead of a balanced diet leads to lack of nutrition in the skin and body.
- Low water intake: Dehydration makes the skin dull and can cause wrinkles.
2. Excessive screen time
- Effects on eyes and brain: Prolonged exposure to mobile and computer screens causes eye fatigue and negative effects on the skin.
- Effect of blue light: It damages the skin cells and increases the age of the skin quickly.
3. Stress and mental pressure
- Pressure of career and personal life: Young people feel stressed in the race to achieve success in education, job and relationships.
- Hormonal imbalance: Stress hormone (cortisol) damages the elasticity of the skin, causing early wrinkles.
4. Lack of sleep and poor routine
- Irregular sleep: Due to the habit of staying awake till late night, the skin and body do not get time to repair properly.
- Fatigue: Due to continuous lack of sleep, fatigue starts appearing in the body and freckles appear on the face.
5. Social media pressure
- Pressure of perfection: Trying to look perfect all the time on social media troubles the youth mentally.
- Insecurity about body image: Not being able to accept one’s true identity and body leads to loss of self-confidence.
