Uttarakhand Road Accident: Five people died, while 17 others were injured in a tragic bus accident on Sunday (January 12) in Srinagar area of Pauri district of Uttarakhand. The accident happened near Dahalchori, where the bus fell into a 100 meter deep gorge. There were a total of 22 passengers in the bus.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep grief over the accident and consoled the families of the deceased.
How did the accident happen?
- The bus was going from Pauri to Dahalchauri.
- The bus lost control and fell into a ditch near Dahalchauri.
- Four passengers died on the spot, while one died on the way to the hospital.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched a rapid rescue operation with the help of local people. All the injured were admitted to Pauri District Hospital.

- Of the 17 injured, the condition of 8 is critical.
- He was referred to the Higher Health Center in Srinagar for better treatment.
- Treatment of the remaining injured is continuing in Pauri District Hospital.
Administration response
Pauri District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan visited the incident site and supervised the relief and rescue operations. He instructed the Transport Department to investigate the causes of the accident.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences on social media platform X:
“Received the extremely sad news of the demise of four passengers in a bus accident near Kendriya Vidyalaya in Pauri. We pray to God that the departed souls may rest in peace and the bereaved family members may get strength to bear this difficult time. Relief and rescue operations are underway, and the injured are being treated at the nearest hospital. I pray to Baba Kedar for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
Update on the incident
- District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan said that 5 people have died in the accident.
- About 10 injured are undergoing treatment in Srinagar hospital.
- The remaining injured are being treated in Pauri.
