The process of admission to general seats from nursery to first class in private schools for the academic session 2025-26 is going on at a fast pace. Draws were held in several schools on Saturday to prepare the list of selected candidates. Representatives of the Directorate of Education and arrangements for videography were made to monitor the process.

Draw at Little Flowers School, Shivaji Park

On Saturday, a draw was organized at Little Flowers Public Senior Secondary School, Shivaji Park, in which a large number of parents participated.

  • When names came in the draw: Parents looked excited.
  • On non-appearance of name in the draw: Parents were seen asking questions and answers.
    The school also announced the names of the children included in the waiting list along with the candidates selected through draw.

Give priority to nearest school: School head

In most of the schools, draws are being conducted for the candidates who have scored 50 to 75 marks. The head of a private school said:

“The parents should ensure admission in whichever school their name comes to. The standard of education in all schools is good. It is better to give preference to a nearby school.”

Draws will continue till January 16

  • Draw process: Will continue till January 16 for selection of candidates securing equal marks.
  • Document Verification: Documents will be verified after the draw.
  • First List: Waiting list with names of selected candidates will be released on 17th January.

Challenge for neighborhood kids

Candidates who score marks on the basis of neighborhood are facing tough competition in the admission process. At the same time, children who get extra marks on the basis of alumni and sibling are able to secure their place in the admission list.

Parents’ reaction

There was an atmosphere of happiness among the parents when the names of their children came during the draw. However, parents of children whose names did not appear asked questions and expressed hope of joining the waiting list.
