Members of the Parliament (MPs) Rajabhau (Parag) Waje and Bhaskar Bhagare recently met Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) Chairman Unmesh Wagh and raised the demand for speedy implementation of the dry port project in Nashik.

The proposed Nashik Dry Port will provide a global market for the farmers of the district for their products and will boost industries in the region. The vision is to develop Nashik as a major logistics hub through this project.

Regarding this project, the MPs placed some of their proposals before the JNPA Chairman.

The MPs emphasised that due to the Nashik Dry Port project, agricultural goods will be directly transported to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) by rail. This will save on transportation costs and time, and farmers will get better prices for their produce. Major produce like grapes, onions, and pomegranates of Nashik district will get national and international markets, which will increase the income of farmers.

“This project is a historic project for Nashik district. Farmers will get a global market for their produce and industries will get a boost. Nashik will develop as a major logistics hub,” Waje said.

Along with this, urgent measures were also requested to be taken to ensure necessary road connectivity, fund sanction and removal of administrative bottlenecks for speedy completion of the project.

Land acquisition in Pimpalgaon and Sukene villages

Waje said that a railway line will be constructed through two villages, Pimpalgaon and Sukene, and the main railway line will be connected to the dry port. He said that he would soon meet the farmers concerned to resolve the issue of land acquisition in these villages.

“This project is a historic project for Nashik district. Farmers will get a global market for their produce and industries will get a boost. Nashik will develop as a major logistics hub,” said Rajabhau Waje.
