Cases of HMPV virus are continuously being reported in the country. A total of 15 cases have been reported so far. The first case was reported in Assam on Saturday. The report of a 10 month old child here has come positive. Officials gave this information on Saturday. Doctors say that the girl’s condition is stable and there is nothing to worry about.

Officials said the child is being treated at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh. Now his condition is stable. AMCH Superintendent Dr. Dhrubjyoti Bhuiya said the child was admitted to the government hospital four days ago due to cold-related symptoms.

The doctor said it is a common virus

The HMPV infection was confirmed yesterday after receiving the test results from Lahaul-based ICMR-RMRC, the hospital superintendent said. Bhuiyan said samples of influenza and flu-related cases are regularly sent to the Indian Council of Medical Research for testing. This is a routine check. During which HMPV infection has been observed. The condition of the child is now stable. This is a common virus and there is nothing to worry about.

 

110 cases were reported in 2014

Dr Vishwajit Borkakoti, senior scientist at ICMR’s Regional Medical Research Centre, Lahowal (Dibrugarh), said, since 2014, we have detected 110 cases of HMPV in Dibrugarh district. This is the first case of this season. It is announced every year and there is nothing new in it.
