Three Naxalites have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Police said in a statement that there was a total reward of Rs 18 lakh on these three Naxalites.

There was a clash with a joint team of security personnel on the hill of Paliguda-Gundarajgudem of Sukma. Bodies of three Naxalites have been recovered from the spot.

According to an official, one of the slain Naxalites, Korsa Mahesh, was an Improvised Explosive Device (IID) expert. He was the mastermind of the violent incidents that took place in Bedre (Bijapur) and Jagargunda (Sukma) areas in 2023 and 2024.

According to Sukma Police Superintendent Kiran Chavan, Mahesh was killed in Maoist’s platoon no. 30 was a deputy commander and there was a reward of eight lakh rupees on him.

He told that two other Naxalites Madhavi Naveen and Avalam were members of Bhima Regional Committee and had a reward of Rs 5 lakh each.

The officer said two barrel grenade launcher (BGL), one 12 bore rifle, three tiffin bombs, five BGL shells and explosives and Maoist related items were seized from the encounter site.

Mahesh was an expert in making, installing and operating IEDs. He was involved in many attacks. He was also involved in the Naxalite attack near Bedre in December 2023. In which CRPF Sub Inspector Sudhakar Reddy was martyred.
