Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh will witness a brief break from the biting cold over the next two days. On January 11 and 12, 34 districts, including Gwalior and Jabalpur, are expected to receive rain. Additionally, hailstorms are likely in Narmadapuram, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Harda, Betul, and Burhanpur on Saturday.
According to meteorologists, the ongoing western disturbance is responsible for the rain and hail. Day and night temperatures will rise briefly during this period. However, once the system moves away, cold winds will return. A fresh cold wave is expected to grip the state from January 13, with temperatures likely to plummet.
Effect of Icy Winds
Over the past few days, icy winds have caused severe cold across the state’s cities, both during the day and night. For the last four nights, temperatures have significantly dropped. This phase is expected to ease by Saturday.
The Meteorological Department also noted that melting snow in Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh will increase the cold’s impact in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, wind speeds have been high, with jet stream winds reaching speeds of 250 km/h on Friday.
