According to information, the Vijay Nagar police caught four youths, including three minor boys, on suspicion of indulging in online betting in June 2023. One of them is the nephew of journalist Ashish Jadoun.

After allegations of the youths’ kin that the police had taken bribe to release the youths from the police station, the police commissioner had instructed a subordinate officer to probe the case.

The allegations were found to be true after the statements of the complainants, the police officials, CCTV footage and other evidence were examined. Hence, commissioner of police Santosh Singh issued an order to demote inspector Gurjar as S-I for three years.
