A tragic incident came to light on Friday in Shahabad, Kurukshetra district of Haryana, where a retired judge committed suicide by jumping in front of the Vande Bharat train. 78-year-old Ravindra Kumar Kashyap, a resident of Panchkula, took the step. The police present at the spot recovered a suicide note from his pocket, in which he did not hold anyone else responsible for his death.

went for a walk but did not return home

According to the information, retired judge R.K., living in Sector-27 of Panchkula. Kashyap had left his house for a walk in the Herbal Park on Thursday morning. But after this he did not return home. The family lodged a complaint of his missing with the police. Sector-25 outpost incharge Sunita told that on her complaint the police had started searching for the judge.

On Friday morning, information was received from Railway Police (GRP) that the body of a person was found on the railway track near Shahabad. When the police reached the spot and investigated, the deceased was identified as retired judge Kashyap.

Loco pilot informed

Information about the incident was given by the loco pilot of Vande Bharat train. He told that a person was hit by a train near Shahabad. Initially the GRP did not find the body, but after further investigation the body was recovered near kilometer number 178 of the railway track near Nagla.

Identification through suicide note

A suicide note was recovered from the deceased, in which he wrote:
“I am ending my life of my own free will. No one else should be blamed for this.”
His name, address and family contact number were also mentioned in the suicide note. This is how the deceased was identified.

Information given to family

The police contacted the relatives of the deceased and informed them about the incident. The family earlier lived in Shahabad, but later shifted to Panchkula.

Police investigation continues

Investigating officer SI Kamal Kumar said that the body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem. Police are investigating the matter to find out what could be the reason behind the suicide.
