Exam city slip of JEE Main Session 1 exam has been released on jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates can download it using their application number and date of birth. This slip tells on which date and in which city the examination will be held. However, NTA has clarified that the exam city slip should not be considered as the admit card. Admit cards will be released three days before the examination.

JEE Main Exam Dates and Shift Timings

  • Exam Dates (Paper 1 – BE/BTech):
    22, 23, 24, 28 and 29 January 2025.
  • Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning):
    30 January 2025.
  • Shift Timing:
    • First Shift: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
    • Second Shift: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
    • Paper 2 (January 30): 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

exam pattern

  1. Paper-1 (BE/BTech):
    • Subject: Physics, Chemistry, Maths.
    • Total Questions: 90 (30 questions in each subject).
    • Section-A: 20 MCQs.
    • Section-B: 10 numerical questions (Now only 5 questions will be compulsory).
  2. Paper-2 (B.Arch/B.Planning):
    • Subject: Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing/Planning based questions.
    • Total Time: 3 hours (3.5 hours for B.Planning).

Result and ranking system

  • After the completion of the examination, ranking will be done on the basis of best NTA score of both the sessions.
  • JEE Advanced Eligibility:
    • First 2,50,000 rank holders can apply.
    • Must have at least 75% marks in 12th or be in top 20 percentile in the respective board exam.

tie-breaking rules

Ranking of candidates with equal scores will now be based on exam performance only.

  1. Preference will be given to those with higher marks in Maths.
  2. After this Physics and then Chemistry.
  3. Consider the ratio of correct and incorrect answers.
  4. If this also remains the same, then the same rank will be given.

Importance of JEE Main

  • Paper-1: For admission to BE/B.Tech.
  • Paper-2: For B.Arch and B.Planning courses.
  • Admission into NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded institutes on the basis of examination.

  • Admit card will be issued separately.
  • Age and application number will not be considered in case of equal rank.
  • Students will have to make complete preparation regarding exam city and timing during the examination.
