Pune Road Rage: Father-Son Duo Assault Family Over Traffic Dispute And Horn Honking |
A dispute over traffic turned violent when a family was beaten by a duo, father and son, for honking the horn while in traffic congestion on Mundhwa-Koregaon road in Pune. The incident occurred near Carnival hotel, Mundhwa, on Thursday night around 8:45 pm.
The accused have been identified as Raju Gaikwad and his son Shubham Gaikwad.
According to the police, the victim Rajesh Waghchaure was going to his home from Mundhwa to Koregaon Park with his family in the car. Around 9 pm, while going home, Waghchaure got stuck in the traffic jam on Mundhwa-Koregaon Park road. Due to the severe traffic jam, Waghchaure honked, seeking some space to go.
Serious injuries inflicted
Angry over the horn, accused Shubham Gaikwad, who was on a two-wheeler, started an argument with him. Meanwhile, the argument turned violent, and Gaikwad punched Rajesh Waghchaure forcefully in the face, leading to serious injuries to his eyes. Moreover, due to the localised conflict, the accused also started stone pelting his car, leading to injuries to his family.
Nilkanth Jagtap (Senior Police Inspector, Mundhwa Police Station), speaking to FPJ, said, “We have arrested the duo, father and son. The argument over traffic and honking turned violent between them. They are under police custody till January 13, 2025. The case is under investigation.”
A case has been registered under sections 118(2), 118(1), and 324(3) of BNS at Mundhwa Police Station.
