Marathi actress Urmila Kothare, who was involved in a horrifying car crash on December 28 in Kandivali, which killed a construction worker, finally broke her silence on the incident two weeks after it happened. The actress stated that she was rendered unconscious post the accident and her driver has been booked for it.
On Friday, Urmila took to her Instagram handle to share a picture of herself praying in front of an idol of Lord Ganesha. Along with the picture, she shared her ordeal with her fans and mentioned that the statement was in compliance with the Mumbai Police.
“I met with a serious car accident on 28th December 2024 around 12.45 am. This happened on western express highway near Poisar metro station where some metro work was being carried out in the night and apparently huge machinery and a JCB loader/ excavator was parked. My driver was driving the car. There was a blind turn, which led to this unfortunate accident (sic),” she wrote.
She further explained, “Myself and my driver were severely injured and were left unconscious post this collision. Thankfully, We were rushed to the hospital immediately (sic).”
“Grateful to the Mumbai Police and the Delivery Personnel Mr. Pawan Shinde who took immediate action and moved us to the hospital. I am home now. I am still suffering from a severe back and ribs injury and have been advised by the doctors not to engage in any physical exercise for at least 4 weeks. Grateful to Bappa. It could have been so much worse. Grateful to all my fans & well wishers who were worried & prayed for my speedy recovery (sic),” she added.
Urmila concluded, “It was a severe accident, and an FIR has been registered by the Police against my driver. I have complete faith in our Judicial System. I know Justice will prevail (sic).”
According to police, Urmila was returning to her home in Thane after dropping her friend at Jogeshwari. It was then that her driver, identified as Gajanan Pal, lost control of the vehicle near the Poisar Metro station in Kandivali East, and ran over two Metro construction workers, killing one.
For those unversed, Urmila is the wife of actor Adinath Kothare, and the daughter-in-law of renowned Marathi actor, Mahesh Kothare. She has been a part of films like Duniyadari, Shubha Mangal Saavadhan, Mala Aai Vhhaychy!, and Ti Saddhya Kay Karte, among others.
