Famous businessman and L&T Chairman SN Subramanian has advised to work 90 hours a week. His statement came when he was asked about the company’s 6 day work policy. Giving a strange argument, Subramanian said that if people stay at home, they will only look at their wives, hence they should come to work even on Sundays.

This debate was first started by Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy’s suggestion of working 70 hours a week, but Subramanian went a step further and suggested 90 hours. In a video he says, “I am sad that they cannot get the work done on Sunday. I want work to be done on Sundays also.”

He said, “What do you do sitting at home? How long will you keep looking at your wife? Come on, go to the office and start working.” To prove this statement correct, he gave the example of a conversation he had with a Chinese person, in which the person told that Chinese employees work 90 hours per week, while American employees work only 50 hours.

L&T Group defended Subramanian’s statement, saying that its company is committed to nation-building. He said that the company has been engaged in promoting India’s infrastructure and technological capabilities for the last eight decades.

This video of Subramanian was first shared on Reddit and now it is becoming increasingly viral on social media. Many people are criticizing his statement, linking it to the exploitation of employees and making them feel uncomfortable.
