The cracks in the India alliance are coming to the fore in the Delhi Assembly elections. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress are making sharp attacks on each other. While Congress is attacking Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on issues like ‘Sheeshmahal’, AAP is alleging that Congress and BJP are conspiring together behind the scenes to defeat him.

AAP and Congress had formed an alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, but both had made it clear that this partnership would be limited only to the national level. Now, both the parties are contesting the Delhi Assembly elections separately. At the same time, other constituent parties of India alliance are keeping an eye on Delhi elections. Samajwadi Party (SP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) have announced to support AAP instead of Congress. This is raising questions on the strategy and objectives within the alliance.

Mamta and Akhilesh support Kejriwal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced her support to Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi elections. Expressing gratitude on ‘X’, Arvind Kejriwal wrote, “TMC has supported AAP in Delhi elections. I am personally grateful to Mamta didi. You have always supported us in good and bad times.”

Earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had also extended support to AAP. Recently, Akhilesh Yadav shared the stage with Arvind Kejriwal at an event organized in Delhi in support of women. Thanking him for the support, Kejriwal said, “Thank you very much Akhilesh ji. You have always stood with us.”

With the support of Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav, Arvind Kejriwal is likely to get the benefit of Yadav vote bank and supporters of other regional parties. Yadav community has a large number of voters in Delhi, due to which AAP is expected to get a strong lead.

Question on India alliance

With constituents like SP and TMC supporting AAP instead of Congress, questions are being raised on the future of the alliance. This situation indicates that the unity of the alliance at the national level is not having any concrete impact in the assembly elections.

look at the results

Voting is going to happen soon for 70 seats in Delhi elections. The main contest is between BJP, AAP and Congress. The support of Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav can create an atmosphere in favor of Arvind Kejriwal, but its real impact will be visible only in the election results.
