Gautam Gambhir’s future as head coach is under question after defeats against New Zealand and Australia. After a humiliating 3-0 defeat to New Zealand, India lost a Test series at home after 12 years. This was the first time that a team swept India in a home Test series of three or more matches. Later, India also lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years, which created an uproar.

Like Gambhir, the same applies for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Same is the case with Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who have been facing a lot of criticism for their consistently poor performances. But now all three have received good news.

According to a report in ‘Times Now’, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will soon hold a review meeting but will not rule out any of the three. A BCCI source said, ‘Yes, there will be a review meeting, but no one will be sacked. You cannot sack a coach for the poor performance of the batsmen in a series. Gautam Gambhir will remain the coach and Virat-Rohit will play the ODI series against England. Our entire focus is on the Champions Trophy.

Virat-Rohit’s bad form in Border-Gavaskar series

Indian captain Rohit struggled throughout the series against the Kangaroos and could score only 31 runs at an average of 6.1 in five innings. Virat started the tour with a century in the first Test in Perth, but his form deteriorated after that, where he failed to score a single half-century. He scored 190 runs in the entire series at an average of 23.75.

Meanwhile, Virat could not score even a single half-century. As far as Gambhir is concerned, his coaching tenure had started like a nightmare. India had lost a bilateral ODI series against Sri Lanka after 27 years before poor performances against New Zealand and Australia.
