The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers in Tingri County, Tibet, about 80 kilometers (50 mi) north of Mount Everest. According to China’s state news agency Xinhua, the earthquake occurred at 9:05 am on Tuesday (6:30 am Indian time). Earthquake tremors were felt in Tibet’s neighboring country China, Nepal, Bhutan and some districts of India as well as in Bangladesh.
