The first case of Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) was registered in Bengaluru this January, followed by more positive cases in other Indian cities. So far, the country has reported 11 cases of the HMPV virus which has infected several people and filled hospitals in China. In the wake of this virus outbreak, a doctor-comedian named Jagdish Chaturvedi released a video to educate people about the HMPV and spread awareness about it.

Chaturvedi posted a video on Instagram where he spoke as if he was the virus himself, meaning he dubbed in the voice of the ‘virus’.
He titled the reel ‘HMPV virus explained in 1 min by the virus himself’.
Personifying HMPV and giving it a voice, he communicated with internet users, aiming to explain them about the virus outbreak and whether it was dangerous or not.
“Hello Guru, this is HMPV virus”
In the video, Chaturvedi dubbed in a quirky voice and said, “Hello Guru, this is HMPV virus. Yes, two babies in Bengaluru have been infected. Paapa (poor thing)”.
“Don’t compare us to the nonsense COVID fellow. We have nothing to do with that family. We are not like that. We are much nicer, kinder, milder. We come, visit, and go”, he stated suggesting people not worry much about HMPV.
HMPV infection symptoms
The doctor, who is known for sharing informative content in a funny way to engage people on social media, listed down the symptoms of HMPV infection and suggested ways to stay protected in the video.
The doctor claimed that almost every child in our country under the age of 5 has is likely to have gone through HMPV infection sometime or the other, which is characterised by symptoms like cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, weakness, and runny or stuffy nose.
Further, he noted that wearing a mask and isolating the infected person for 3-6 days are means of curbing the spread of the virus.
Doctor Chaturvedi’s video on HMPV has already gone viral on Instagram and hit 1.8 million views.
