There is a saying that “40 is the new 20” and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has certainly justified that saying. In the match against the Dallas Mavericks, LeBron stunned the world with a highlight-reel dunk in the first quarter.

James’ Los Angeles Lakers teammate Max Christie got an offensive rebound and threw the ball down the floor to James. The power forward grabbed the pass and sprinted to the rim for a dunk. However, Lebron saw Dallas Mavericks rookie center Dereck Lively II in his way and switched the ball from his right hand to his left mid-air and threw down a windmill dunk over the 7-footer.

The dunk has been deemed by many as the candidate for “Dunk of the Year,”. The Lakers ultimately fell to the Mavericks 118-97, though the dunk was a highlight of the night.

Lebron James reacts to Lakers loss to Mavericks

The Lakers were handed a crushing 97-118 loss by the Dallas Mavericks who played without their two star players Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Quintin Grimes led the scoring for the Mavericks with 23 points, while PJ Washington scored 22 points. For Lakers Anthony Davis had 21 points, while James scored 18.

Reacting to the loss, LeBron said, “When the ball is popping and the ball is going in, you’re able to play defense with a set defense. If not, they get out and run it or turn the ball over, which we didn’t do too much of that,”.

He added, “But offense can help defense as much as the defense can help the offense. It’s just another night for us where we’re not good offensively. We didn’t shoot the ball well, and we missed a lot of shots at the rim, and they countered that.”
