A 43-year-old man popularly known as ‘Bombay’ has gone viral on social media for showing him fearlessly catching a leopard with his bare hands.Yoganand, a brave farmer from Karnataka, was seen grabbing the ferocious leopard by its tail. The incident was recorded from Tumkuru’s Chikkakottigehalli area on Monday.

The leopard had been roaming in the locality for the last few days, keeping villagers in fear of attack. The villagers had set up a trap to catch the leopard but the wild cat evaded it. When the leopard was spotted on the farms of Chikkakottigehalli on Monday, Yoganand dared to chase and catch it.

Farmer assists forest officials

When the villagers learned about the movement of a leopard in their area, they alerted the forest department. A 15-member team was appointed to catch the leopard and protect the villagers from any attack. ‘Bombay’ assisted the foresters in their actions and managed to get hold of the animal by grabbing its tail.

When the officers were throwing nets to trap the leopard, Yoganand saw the animal heading towards children and women. This pumped courage in Yoganand and made him act promptly.

“I realised that both women and children were in the line of danger. Trusting God, I caught the leopard by its tail and pulled back with all my strength…The animal was captured”, he said, while crediting the forest officials for capturing the leopard into the net as it turned around.

How Yoganand got the name ‘Bombay’

Farmer Yoganand was reportedly nicknamed ‘Bombay’ by people after he ran away from their village when he was young to travel to Mumbai for a job.

The recent incident has brought him fame and praise for his daring act. The video of him catching the leopard by its tail has gone viral across internet platforms.
