Thane: The Bhiwandi City police arrested one Bangladeshi national, who was allegedly residing illegally in Bhiwandi without valid visas or documentation. The Bangladeshi national has been identified as Abu Siddiqui Shaikh, 45, a labourer residing at Navi Basti, Bhiwandi.
The police stated that they raided houses in Nehru Nagar, located in Navi Basti Bhiwandi, all within the jurisdiction of the Bhiwandi City police station in Bhiwandi. Following their arrest, they were presented in court.
Investigations revealed that they had fled Bangladesh due to poverty and unemployment in their home country. A complaint was filed by Ashok Suk, a police constable from the Narpoli police station.
The police reported receiving information about Bangladeshi men who were residing illegally in Bhiwandi. A team was formed, and a raid was conducted in the area. During the preliminary inquiry, it was discovered that a man had entered India illegally from Bangladesh.
The police also confirmed that he did not possess valid documents or permission to work and live in Bhiwandi. In recent years, Thane has witnessed a notable increase in illegal Bangladeshi migrants. In response, the police have launched a special campaign to identify and apprehend such individuals.
An FIR has been registered against the men under the provisions of the Foreign Nationals Act and the Indian Passport Act, the police confirmed.
