Lucknow, January 6: The Yogi government has taken significant steps in the field of labour welfare, prioritizing the registration of building and other construction workers, along with MNREGA workers.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mandated the registration of MNREGA workers on the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCW) portal. He has instructed the relevant officials to ensure that all workers are registered so that no worker is deprived of the benefits offered ubder the board’s schemes.
This proactive initiative not only enables workers to access direct benefits but also plays a vital role in improving their standard of living and providing social security. To achieve this goal, a special campaign is underway to register job card holders on the portal under the MNREGA scheme.
District-level officers have received instructions from the Rural Development Headquarters to expedite the registration process, which is being closely monitored. As of the financial year 2024-25, over 1.29 lakh workers have been registered across the state, with efforts continuing to include the remaining workers.
The Yogi government remains committed to the welfare of workers, utilizing technological means to ensure transparency and efficiency in the registration process.
Officials have been instructed to avoid negligence in registering workers and conduct regular review meetings to monitor progress.
The schemes implemented under the BOCW Board aim to provide social and economic security to workers and their families. These include the Maternity, Shishu, and Balika Madad Yojana, which offers health and financial assistance to women and girls.
Similarly, the Kanya Vivaah Sahayata Yojana provides financial aid for the marriage of daughters from impoverished labourer families.
The Sant Ravidas Shiksha Protsahan Yojana encourages children of workers to pursue quality education, and the Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya Yojana ensures better education and residential facilities for them.
The Nirman Kamgar Death and Disability Assistance Scheme provides financial aid in case of accidents, while the Mahatma Gandhi Pension Scheme offers regular pensions to financially weak workers.
Additionally, the Disaster Relief Assistance Scheme supports workers affected by natural disasters, and the Critical Illness Assistance Scheme provides financial help for medical treatment.
The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Chetna Yojana further extends special assistance for the empowerment and overall welfare of workers.
The government’s approach goes beyond financial aid, focusing on making workers self-reliant and empowered. Awareness campaigns are being conducted to inform workers about their rights and the benefits available through these schemes.
The government’s initiatives not only provide social and economic security but also contributes to a dignified and simplified life for the labour force in UP. The strategy of ensuring comprehensive worker registration and access to benefits marks a significant step toward the state’s overall development and prosperity.
