Blizzard in America and Europe: Not only North India, many areas of the entire world are stuck in bone-chilling cold. There has been a snow storm in Europe and America on Sunday, due to which millions of people are in trouble. Heavy snowfall and freezing rain wreaked havoc across Europe on Sunday. Hundreds of flights were canceled in Europe due to the snow storm, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. Even in America, the snow storm has forced millions of people to stay at home. Apart from this, people will have to live in darkness due to power failure due to the storm. This storm, which started on Saturday, will engulf America by Monday. About 2000 flights have been canceled in Western America due to the snow storm.

Northern parts of Britain received up to 40 centimeters of snow, leaving rural areas isolated and causing widespread power outages. National Grid worked tirelessly to restore power in areas such as Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff. Almost all sporting events were cancelled, although the Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United is awaiting final inspection.

Many airports have been affected by heavy snowfall in Britain. The runways at Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport were temporarily closed. Operations at Leeds Bradford Airport were also suspended. The precautionary shutdown led to disruption of road transport and vehicular traffic at many places, especially when families and students were returning from holidays.

Railways were in a similar situation with many trains being canceled and warnings issued that there could be disruption on working days as well. The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted heavy snowfall in northern England and Scotland, while the south is expected to see moderate weather followed by freezing rain. Eight flood warnings were also issued for the Rivers Tow and Avon in southern England.

Similar difficulties arose in Germany as winter weather moved into the south-west. Authorities issued a black ice warning and advised citizens to stay at home. Black ice is an invisible thin layer of ice that accumulates on roads and water, posing a serious accident risk.

120 flights were canceled at Frankfurt Airport, while the single runway at Munich Airport continued to operate. The roads were also in poor condition and several accidents occurred, including a bus accident near Hemmingen that injured eight people. Long-distance trains to Frankfurt were also disrupted. Air traffic and road traffic have been suspended due to cold and snowy winds.

The National Weather Service is predicting the arrival of the cold Labrador Current from the northeast as the snow storm moves from the northeastern United States to Florida on the Atlantic coast and Mississippi in the Gulf of Mexico. Therefore, it is likely to have a direct impact on more than six crore people living in the eastern part of the country.

The Kansas-based National Weather Service also issued a warning that immediate impacts were possible along a 1,500-mile stretch of the Atlantic coast as far west as Delaware, as well as western Kansas. He said areas from the Central Plains to the mid-Atlantic, which are still under the ice sheet, will be affected by the storm’s high-speed winds. There is a possibility of the country’s heaviest snowfall.

According to the information received, many areas of Eastern America are now covered with a layer of twenty feet snow. Now it is not possible to tell how much damage will be caused by this snow storm. At present, air services and road traffic are disrupted in these areas.
