Kia Corporation has achieved a new milestone in global sales, reaching 3,089,457 vehicles in 2024, marking a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the previous year. The company’s sales outside of Korea saw a more significant rise, with 2,543,361 units sold, reflecting a 1% growth. However, domestic sales in Korea declined by 4.2%, totaling 540,010 units. This record-breaking performance underscores Kia’s strong presence in international markets, despite a dip in its home market.
In December 2024, Kia saw a significant increase in global sales, rising by 11.8% year-on-year to reach 240,537 vehicles. This growth helped Kia surpass its previous annual sales record set in 2023, when it sold a total of 3,087,384 units. Of this, 2,518,016 units were sold outside of Korea, while 563,660 vehicles were sold domestically. Kia’s strong performance in December capped off a successful year for the company, driven by consistent growth in international markets.
Kia Sportage led the brand’s global sales in 2024, with 587,717 units sold, followed by the Kia Seltos with 312,246 units and the Sorento with 280,705 units. This strong performance was bolstered by the introduction of new models, including the Kia EV3, the K4 sedan, and a hybrid version of the Carnival MPV. Additionally, favorable industrial conditions and flexible business operations helped Kia increase vehicle production and supply, contributing to the company’s best-ever annual sales performance.
Kia has set a global sales target of 3,216,200 units for 2025, with 550,000 units expected to be sold in Korea and 2,658,000 units in international markets. The company also aims to sell 8,200 special purpose vehicles. To sustain its growth, Kia plans to strengthen its position as a leader in electric vehicles (EVs) by expanding its EV lineup, launching key strategic models, and focusing on the growth of its Purpose-Built Vehicle (PBV) business.
