Mumbai: An incident of sexual abuse of a minor girl has come to light in Pydhonie area of Mumbai, where a 19-year-old shopkeeper allegedly called a 9-year-old minor girl to his shop on the pretext of showing her a turtle and sexually abused her.
In this case, Pydhonie police have registered a case under molestation charges and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested the accused.
According to Pydhuni police, the victim, a resident of Bhindi Bazaar, was passing through Mohammed Ali Road at 5 pm on December 31, when the accused lured her into showing a turtle and took her to his shop.
After going inside, he switched off the lights, gave her 50 rupees and sexually abused her. Not only this, the accused also threatened the girl not to tell this to anyone.
The girl was shocked by this incident and refused to go outside the house. Her mother noticed the change in her behavior and on repeated questioning, she told the whole incident.
After this, the mother took her to Pydhonie police station and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, the police recorded the statement of the mother and sent the victim to Sir J J Hospital for medical examination. The police have arrested the accused and are investigating further.
