Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Students of Jabalpur’s Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya (RDVV) staged a strong protest against the university administration on Friday, after hundreds of B.Sc first-year students were given ‘double zero’ (00) in their exams.
Students alleged that despite studying hard for the exams, students got zero marks and it has shocked them. They claimed serious administrative negligence and demanded an investigation from the university.
The protest was carried out under the banner of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). The students entered the offices of Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajesh Verma and Registrar Rajendra Kuraria, raising slogans. They also beat drums in order to ‘wake-up the administration.’

Protesters expressed anger toward CM Mohan Yadav, the Higher Education Minister, and the Governor. They wore masks of these officials to symbolize that they have been held ‘hostage.’
The students alleged that the state government and the higher education department are working under the Vice-Chancellor’s influence. The students claimed that the incident has affected their academic and mental well-being. They have demanded the removal of Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajesh Verma.

Registrar assures redressal of grievances
On the matter, the Registrar Rajendra Kuraria met the students after the protest and stated that the issue might be due to a technical error at the university. He assured students that their grievances would be addressed immediately and necessary corrections would be made.

Sharing her grievances, B.Sc first-year student Anjali Yadav said, “We gave the exams with full dedication, but got zero marks. It is an insult to our hard work.”

Sachin Rajak, NSUI District President, added, “This incident is playing with the future of students. The Vice-Chancellor and the administration cannot escape from their responsibilities. Our protest will continue until justice is served.”
Students want transparent functioning
Students believe the problem stems from either administrative negligence or a technical glitch. This mistake by the university administration has put the future of hundreds of students in jeopardy.
The students demand respect for their efforts and strict action against those responsible. They have warned the administration to make their processes more transparent and accountable to avoid such errors in the future.
