Mumbai: Mumbai’s Deonar Police have arrested Raju Chikanya alias Vilas Balaram Pawar, a member of the Chhota Rajan gang, who had been absconding for 32 years in a 1992 serious crime case.

According to Police, The accused was wanted in a crime registered 32 years ago under the jurisdiction of Deonar Police Station. The case was filed under Sections 307, 34, 3, and 25 of the IPC and the Arms Act. Despite multiple efforts over the years, the accused managed to evade arrest.

In addition to the Deonar case, Vilas Pawar was also wanted for cases of firing and murder registered at Mumbai’s Dadar Police Station. Another case against him was filed in Alibaug, Maharashtra.

Chhota Rajan Gang Association and Local Influence

Vilas Pawar worked for the Chhota Rajan gang and was known for instilling fear in the Ghatla village area of Govandi, Mumbai. The area was considered his stronghold, where he operated with impunity, creating an atmosphere of terror for decades.

This arrest is a significant step in dismantling the network of absconding criminals associated with organized crime in Mumbai. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
