Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana has introduced a new payment system for scholarships and incentives, which will now be processed through The Unified Payment Portal (UniPay), effective from New Year.

Cabinet minister Nirmala Bhuria announced that this initiative will allow eligible girls to receive payments directly into their bank accounts. Beneficiaries will also receive SMS notifications regarding their payments.

Under the scheme, scholarships are provided to girls in Classes VI, IX, XI and XII along with incentive amounts during the first and last years of graduation.

To date, over 29 lakh girls have benefited, with a total scholarship amount of Rs 813.64 crore being approved.

Previously, the payment process involved district-level withdrawals and deposits, which were time-consuming and lacked transparency. The new UniPay system eliminates manual intervention.

Payments are initiated by the District Women and Child Development Officer through the MPSIDC portal, and funds are transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account via the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), provided the account is Aadhaar-linked and enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
