Mira Bhayandar: 23-Year-Old Raja Pariyar Dies After Brutal Assault at New Year Party; Three Arrested, Three Flee | Representational Image

Mira Bhayandar: In a horrifying incident, a 23-year-old who was brutally assaulted by six people during a booze party to welcome the new year succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the KEM hospital in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon (2, January 2025). The assault is said to be the fall-out of a petty tiff between two groups over playing songs.

According to the police the incident was reported from the premises of a MHADA settlement located behind Delta Garden in Kashimira at around 12:30 am on Wednesday.

A group of around 10 to 15 youngsters including the deceased who has been identified as- Raja Pariyar had gathered to celebrate the New Years Eve. A heated argument ensued between Pariyar and the accused-Ashish Jadhav over playing Bhojpuri numbers on the sound system.

The argument escalated and both rained blows on each other. Jadhav left the spot and returned with five people including his father and uncle. They mounted a brutal assault on Pariyar and his friend-Vipul Rai with bamboo sticks and metal wrist bracelets, before fleeing the spot.

Both were rushed to the Centenary Hospital in Kandivali. While Vipul was discharged after being administered first-aid treatment, Pariyar who had suffered grievous internal head injuries and skull fracture was shifted to the KEM hospital in a serious and unconscious state. After battling for life for nearly 24 hours, Pariyar succumbed on Thursday afternoon.

Initially a FIR on charges of attempted murder was registered which was later converted to a murder case. A team from the Kashimira police station led by senior inspector-Lalu Ture arrested three assailants including the prime accused- Ashish Jadhav (27) his father Prakash Jadhav (52) and uncle Sanjay Jadhav (50) for murder and other relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita(BNS). However, their three accomplices are still at large.

The arrested accused who had got themselves admitted to hospital in an apparent bid to avoid arrest were taken into custody and will be produced before the district sessions court, Thane on Friday, police said.
