The US media on Thursday (January 2) identified a man named Matthew Livelsberger (37) as driver of the cybertruck that exploded outside US President-Elect Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel. The explosion outside Trump International Hotel killed the driver and injured seven others on Wednesday.
Colorado’s KOAA News5 has identified the driver citing sources. The driver of the cybertruck was inside the vehicle when the explosives inside it exploded.
Following the explosion, the police said that they had name of the driver but didn’t share it with the media.
The cybertruck was rented from car-renting platform Turo. It is the same platform the vehicle used in New Orleans car attack was rented from.
The law enforcement agencies said that there did not seem to be any connection between the two incidents and use of the same car-renting platform appeared co-incidental.
KOAA News5 has reported that Livelsberger was a resident of Colorado Springs. He drove the cybertruck from Colorado to Las Vegas.
As per media reports, the cybertruck was in the valet area of the hotel for 15-20 seconds before it exploded.
Las Vegas Police praised Tesla CEO Elon Musk for offering help after the explosion. Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the cybertruck got auto-locked after the blast. Musk had it unlocked. The billionaire entrepreneur also provided information a video from a charging station when the driver stopped to charge the cybertruck.
