Be it to satiate hunger at night or cravings while travelling, most people prefer to order food. Ordering food online has become a part of today’s lifestyle. In this series, Swiggy has also shared the list of its top order food items this year. Like previous years, this year too biryani remains the most popular food, with 8.3 crore biryani orders delivered since January 1.

According to Swiggy, 158 plates of biryani are ordered every minute in India. The highest number of orders came from Hyderabad, where 97 lakh biryani orders were placed.
Dosa and pasta are not far behind
This year dosa has retained its place in the list. According to Swiggy report, dosa to be ordered 23 million times in 2024. One particular Bengaluru user spent Rs 49,900 on pasta alone, in which he enjoyed 55 Alfredo dishes, 40 Mac and Cheese, and 30 Spaghetti.
Chole and Aloo Parantha are not out of the list
Bengaluru saw 2.5 million masala dosa orders, while Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata also ordered their favorite dishes, including chole, aloo paratha and kachori.
Preferred order for snacks
According to reports, chicken roll became India’s most favorite snack in 2024, ordered 2.48 million times. This was followed by 1.63 million orders of Chicken Momos and 1.3 million orders of Potato Fries. Chicken burgers were ordered 1.84 million times for dinner between midnight and 2 am.
This list from Swiggy shows that biryani, dosa, and snacks have a special place in the food preferences of Indians.
