Most people associate diabetes with eating sweets and believe that sugar level increases only by eating too much sweets. But it is not true. The risk of diabetes increases mainly due to insulin resistance, not just the consumption of sweets. Insulin is a hormone that transports glucose to cells. Due to diabetes, the body either does not respond to insulin or does not produce it. This means that diabetes can occur even in those people who do not like to eat sweets or eat less sweets.
Now the question arises why the problem of diabetes occurs. In fact, diabetes can also be seen in those people who do not follow a healthy lifestyle and diet. Knowingly or unknowingly we eat many such things, which do not seem sweet, but they contain high amount of sugar. Let us know about some other things apart from sugar which increase the sugar level in the body:
- Rice,
If you are fond of rice and eat it in excess, it can cause diabetes. Rice contains carbohydrates and a high glycemic index, which can suddenly increase blood sugar levels. - Fine flour,
Snacks made from flour are consumed in many Indian homes along with evening tea. But they have a high glycemic index and can increase blood sugar levels rapidly by increasing calories. - drink less water,
Diabetic patients need to drink adequate amount of water. Lack of water can increase the sugar level in the blood. Therefore, drinking three to four liters of water throughout the day helps the kidneys to flush out excess sugar. - sugary fruits,
Fruit juices like grapes, orange and mango have high sugar content, which can increase blood sugar levels. In such a situation, include the right fruits in your diet only after consulting your doctor.
By keeping these things in mind, you can control your blood sugar level and reduce the risk of diabetes.
