Jaipur: The northern winds have gripped Rajasthan and the state is reeling in severe cold wave conditions with dense fog. Not only the minimum, but maximum temperatures have dipped to believe the average.

Along with the cold wave, the dense fog covered the state and stalled the life on Tuesday.

The cold conditions have started in the state from Sunday with the end of the effect f Western Disturbance. As the cloud cover lifted, the cold northern winds gripped the state and the maximum temperature in many districts, including Jaipur, Alwar, Bikaner, Churu, Ganganagar remained below 20 degrees Celsius. There has been freezing cold in these districts for the last two days.

With chilling winds, the dense fog stopped the Sun from giving some relief to the people. The visibility reduced to 10–20 meters due to the fog in many cities, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Rajsamand, Sikar, Pali, Kota, Jodhpur, Udaipur. The fog stalled the life as the movement on the roads became difficult.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave conditions are likely to continue until January 2. The lowest minimum temperature was 4.6 degrees Celsius recorded in Sri Ganganagar.

Dress code changed for recruitment exams

Looking at the chilling weather, The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board has changed the dress code of the recruitment examinations to be held in the state. Now in winter, candidates will be allowed to wear warm clothes.

Chairman of Rajasthan Staff Selection Board, Alok Raj said, ‘The board has amended the dress code of recruitment examinations. Earlier, the same dress code was applicable for examinations throughout the year. Now there will be different dress codes for winter and summer.”

Under the winter dress code, the candidates will be allowed to wear coat, jacket, full sleeve shirt, warm jersey without pockets, sweater, however metal buttons, chains or big buttons would not be allowed on them.

Notably, the dress code for recruitment exams was implemented to stop cheating and use of Bluetooth devices.
