The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC NET 2024) registration deadline has been extended by the National Testing Agency (NTA) till January 2, 2025. Candidates can register on csirnet.nta.ac.in.

The official notice stated, “In continuation to the Public Notice dated the 09.12.2024 regarding submission of online application form for Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2024 for ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges, NTA has decided to extend the last date for submission of online application form for Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2024, enabling the aspiring candidate(s) to apply.”

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the CSIR UGC NET 2024 exam, candidates must be Indian citizens. The upper age limit for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is 28 years, which can be relaxed by up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PwD and female candidates, however there is no upper age limit for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor.

Candidates must hold an MSc or equivalent degree with at least 55% (50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates). PhD holders who completed their master’s degree with at least 50% marks before September 19, 1991, are solely eligible for Lectureship positions.

How to apply?

Step 1: Go to csirnet.nta.ac.in, the official website.
Step 2: From the homepage, select the “CSIR NET December 2024 Registration” option.
Step 3: Complete the application form with all of the relevant information.
Step 4: Upload all required files and pay the application fee.
Step 5: Download and print the CSIR-UGC NET 2024 December Registration confirmation document for your records.
