Noida: In an effort to ensure public safety on New Year’s Eve, Noida Police has announced a unique initiative to assist heavily intoxicated individuals by arranging cab and auto services to help them reach home safely. This measure, implemented in collaboration with bar and restaurant owners, aims to curb drunk driving incidents and promote a secure celebration environment.

Details On The Unique Initiative

Discussing these arrangements, Noida DCP Ram Badan Singh stated, “We have rolled out extensive security measures, including drone surveillance and cab services, to ensure a safe New Year’s Eve. Intoxicated revellers will be supported by bar and restaurant operators to arrange transportation for their safe return.”

He added that dedicated help desks manned by police officers will be stationed at popular malls, pubs, and restaurants to prevent drunk driving, as reported by India Today.

Security Ramped Up By Cops

To strengthen citywide security, 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across key locations, with high-traffic areas being monitored through 6,000 CCTV cameras and drones. Popular spots such as GIP Mall, Garden Galleria, DLF Mall and Sector 18 are under special focus, with additional personnel stationed at these venues.

On December 30, senior police officials, accompanied by dog squads and bomb disposal teams, conducted a security review march in prominent city areas. Garden Galleria Mall, a frequent hub for celebrations, will see 300 officers stationed across its floors, alongside parking facilities for approximately 7,000 vehicles.

Emergency Services On Standby

Emergency response measures have also been prioritised. Ambulances are on standby and women’s safety help desks will be operational in malls and crowded areas to address any potential issues.

To manage security comprehensively, the city has been divided into three super zones, 10 zones, 27 sectors and 119 sub-sectors. Riot control equipment and Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) forces are also on alert for any unforeseen situations, according to the report.
