Mumbai: The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) police arrested two individuals for allegedly possessing 27 grams of MD (Mephedrone) worth Rs.2.70 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Riyaz Shah, 49, a developer residing in Kanakia Palace society, Bandra East, and Hasan Ali Mansuri, 50, an employee of a private company residing in Kurla West.
The arrest took place on December 27, and both were remanded to police custody until December 30. The accused were apprehended near Kanakia Palace in BKC.
According to the FIR, on December 25, around 8 p.m., the BKC police were patrolling the BKC-Kherwadi road near Valmiki Nagar, close to Kanakia Palace in Bandra East. During the patrol, they noticed two individuals on a motorcycle acting suspiciously. The police stopped them for inspection.
Initially, a search of their clothing and a body inspection did not yield any incriminating items. However, upon inspecting the motorcycle, owned by Hasan Ali Mansuri, the police discovered a white envelope, a weighing scale, and a bag inside the bike’s storage compartment.
Inside the bag, the police found a white powder, which Mansuri admitted was MD (Mephedrone) intended for personal consumption.
The police registered a case against both individuals under Sections 21(b) (possession, sale, purchase, transport, import, or use of manufactured drugs) and 8(c) (manufacture, possession, sale, purchase, transport, or use of narcotic drugs) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on December 27, and subsequently arrested the two accused.
