Bhopal/Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A 21-year-old man was shot at by six attackers in Gwalior on Sunday night. The assailants first visited his home and threatened his brother and warned him that they would shoot the victim. Scared, the victim’s brother informed him about the threat.
Later, late at night when the victim came home, he was shot by the assaliants in front of his house. The accused fled the scene later. Nearby residents heard the gunshots and rushed to help. The victim’s family called up police and sent the injured to the hospital for treatment. Police have registered an attempt to murder case against the accused. Cause of the attack is still unclear.
According to information, the victim, identified as 21-year-old Veenu, a resident of Gwalior city. On Sunday evening, half a dozen masked assaliants visited Veenu’s residence and threatened his brother, Deependra. They warned that they would shoot his brother. After the threat, Veenu’s brother informed him about the danger, advising him not to return home.
Around midnight, while Veenu was on his way back with his friend Abhishek, they encountered the attackers near a water tank. The assailants, identified as Ravi Ghuraiya, Shivam Tomar, Ravi Gurjar, Vishal Valmik, Hariom Valmik, and another unidentified man, blocked their path and started abusing Veenu. When he resisted, they pulled out firearms and opened fire.
One bullet struck Veenu in the chest, while another narrowly missed his head. In a bid to escape, Veenu and his friend fled the scene. The attackers fled as a crowd began to gather. Veenu’s family rushed him to a private hospital, where his condition remains critical.
Police Investigation
The family members of the victim called up the police and narrated the ordeal. On the basis of statements from the victim and his family, police have filed an attempt to murder case against the accused. However, the motive behind the attack remains unclear as Veenu is unable to identify the reason for the attack. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
