Pakistan is spending billions of rupees to build the country’s largest nuclear plant to generate electricity. Pakistan is taking big steps towards electricity supply. Approval has been received to set up the country’s largest nuclear power plant. This plant will be able to generate electricity up to 1200 MW. Huge sums of money are being spent to set up these plants in the country. It will cost approximately Rs 3.7 billion to establish it.

India’s neighboring country Pakistan is going to set up the country’s largest nuclear power plant to generate electricity. Pakistan (Atomic Energy Regulatory Agency) has given the license to set up this nuclear plant. According to PNRA (Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority), this plant will be capable of generating up to 1200 MW of electricity.

This nuclear plant has been named Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit 5. PNRA said that this plant will be the largest plant to generate electricity through nuclear energy. This plant is being built at a cost of Rs 3.7 billion.

This information was given by PANRA

PNRA had applied for the plant in April this year, after which it got its license in December. PNRA submitted several documents with the license application, including safety reports, nuclear safety, radiation safety, emergency preparedness, waste management and nuclear safety design. PNRA said the license has been issued as per national and international standards after examining several aspects. The C-5 is a third-generation pressurized water reactor of Chinese Hualong design, capable of operating for 60 years. Pakistan already has two plants of this design and this is the country’s third nuclear power plant of this design.

Apart from this, the remaining two power plants are Karachi Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 and 3. Both these plants are functioning successfully and generating electricity for the country. C-5 had already been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council. This plant is being built at a cost of Rs 3.7 billion. However, Pakistan’s installed nuclear power capacity is about 3,530 MW, which will reach 1200 MW after the completion of C5.
