Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan shared an image of their son Angad holding the match ball sending the internet into a frenzy. The junior Bumrah held the ball with which his father clinched his five-wicket haul during Australia’s second innings.
Sanjana’s caption, “Proud of dadda, today and every day,”. Bumrah’s exceptional performance in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne went in vain as India suffered an 184-run defeat at the hands of Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah makes history during Boxing Day Test at MCG
Jasprit Bumrah became the first bowler in the history of Test cricket to take more than 200 wickets with an average of less than 20. Bumrah, who played his 44th Test match for India at Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia has 202 wickets to his name at an average of 19.38.
Bumrah completed his 200th dismissal in Test cricket by removing Travis Head for 1 run from two balls. By dismissing Head for the second time in the ongoing Boxing Day Test at MCG, Bumrah also broke Kapil Dev’s record of being the fastest Indian pacer to take 200 Test wickets. Kapil’s 200th Test wicket came in the 50th match, whereas Bumrah has achieved the feat in his 44th match only. He is the second fastest Indian to dismiss 200 batters in Tests.
Bumrah nominated for ICC Cricketer of the Year award
Jasprit Bumrah was on Monday nominated for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award and also featured in the list for the best player in the Test format. Bumrah has been nominated for the top award, named after legendary West Indies all-rounder Sir Garfield Sobers, alongside England’s prolific duo of Joe Root and Harry Brook and Travis Head completing the list.
The right-arm pacer has been the best bowler in Test cricket in 2024 with 71 wickets from 13 matches at an average of 14.92 and a strike rate of 30.16, the best figures for any bowler. He has also been the top bowler in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 30 wickets in a mere four Tests.
