Diesel Paratha
A Chandigarh-based Dhaba went viral after a video of its staff preparing something as concerning as ‘Diesel Paratha’ rolled out online. The visuals showed the man adding a liquid which he claimed to be ‘Diesel’ while preparing Paratha, fuelling up a debate over food safety. However, the clip was soon deleted by the food vlogger who posted it and the owner of the eatery clarified that no diesel was used in the food preparation.
Misal Pizza
Pizza lovers were shocked to come across a desi fusion of their Italian dish. The viral video showed a person topping pizza bread with sprouts, onion, and Farsan, which are the usual ingredients of an authentic Misal. Learning about the trending item ‘Misal Pizza’, which was served at an eatery in Pune, Maharashtra, netizens rushed to the comments section to say “Eww” and express their disagreement towards the unthinkable food curation.
Gulab Jamun Dosa
Love South Indian food items? If you are someone who often asks for a Dosa leaving behind other dishes on an extensive menu, this video will make you scream out loud. This year, a viral video showed a person not cooking a regular Masala Dosa, but something as bizarre as ‘Gulab Jamun Dosa’. Again, like the ‘Diesel Parath’ recipe, this fusion dish was shared from the streets of Chandigarh, undoubtedly to coin itself in the list of the viral dishes from 2024.
Pan Masala Omelette
Moving over the veg dishes, take a look at how the non-veg food zone was not ignored when it came to quirky combinations and food experiments. A roadside vendor was seen preparing an Omelette by adding Pan Masala. Wait, what? Yes, you read that right. The footage, said to be from Kolkata, showed the man sprinkling Pan Masala powder to the egg yolk. While this video surfaced online during late 2023, it continued drawing eyeballs in 2024.
Ice Cream Pav
Another dish that made foodies furious was this one, which pressed a scoop of ice cream into a Pav. While some would even agree to enjoy a Pav filled with wafers or chips to break the monotony of Samosa Pav or Vada Pav, ‘Ice Cream Pav’ didn’t win the hearts of netizens.
It received a collective negative feedback from people. However, the content creator who uploaded the bizarre recipe video online mentioned that the reel was only created for fun and time pass, clarifying the dish was not available for real.
