Rohit Sharma: Captain Rohit Sharma is very saddened by the defeat of the Indian team against Australia. Australia defeated India by 184 runs on the fifth day of the Boxing Day Test match. So now Australia has taken a 2-1 lead in this series. India needed 340 runs to win this test. The Indian team had the whole day. But the team could not save the match. In this match, there was a controversy regarding the out given to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Now Rohit Sharma has given a statement on this.
What was the whole controversy?
Pat Cummins played a successful pool shot on the bouncer and the ball fell into the hands of the wicketkeeper. Australia appealed but the on-field umpire gave Yashasvi not out. Then Australia took a review and the third umpire gave Yashasvi out, which led to a controversy. The controversy arose because in the review, when the ball passed near Yashasvi’s bat and gloves, no movement was seen on the snico meter. However, the third umpire overruled the on-field umpire’s decision and dismissed Yashaswin.
What did Rohit say?
Rohit Sharma held a press conference after the match. When he was asked about Yashasvi, he said, ‘I don’t know what to say about this technology? At first glance it seemed that the ball had not touched the bat. But this is a technical thing which we know is not 100 percent correct. I just want to say that we were a little unlucky.
Spectators showed cheaters’ boards in the stadium
Indian fans got angry after seeing Yashaswin out and cheaters boards were put up in the stadium. Apart from this, a board written SHAME was also displayed. Seeing this, even the umpire present on the field was surprised. Yashasvi discussed with the on-field umpire and expressed his views. Meanwhile, he was looking quite disappointed and angry. However, this is not the first time that the third umpire has given a wrong decision in this series. Something similar happened with KL Rahul in the first Test match played in Perth.
