New Delhi: The controversy has gained momentum in the ongoing fourth Test match between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This incident happened after the dismissal of Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal.
While trying to pull Cummins’ bouncer, Yashasvi played a shot, and the ball went into the hands of the wicketkeeper. On the appeal of Australian players, the field umpire declared Yashasvi not out. After this the Australian team took DRS (review). The third umpire declared Yashasvi out after seeing the review, which created a controversy.
During the review, when the ball passed near Yashasvi’s bat and gloves, no movement was seen on the snickometer. Despite this, the third umpire overturned the field umpire’s decision and gave Yashasvi out. This decision saw a huge outcry among the Indian spectators, and they started rioting on the field.
Due to this controversial decision, Yashasvi could not complete his century. He batted brilliantly and scored 84 runs, but the third umpire’s decision ended his innings midway.
This incident was not only disappointing for the Indian fans but also raised questions on the standard of umpiring in the match.
