IND Vs AUS, Yashasvi Jaiswal: In the fourth Test match being played between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the Indian team had to face a crushing defeat. But during this match there was a controversy over giving out to Yashasvi Jaiswal. Pat Cummins played a successful pool shot on the bouncer and the ball fell into the hands of the wicketkeeper. Australia appealed but the on-field umpire gave Yashasvi not out. Then Australia took a review and the third umpire gave Yashasvi out, which led to a controversy.

What was the whole controversy?

The controversy arose because in the review, when the ball passed near Yashasvi’s bat and gloves, no movement was seen on the snico meter. However, the third umpire overruled the on-field umpire’s decision and dismissed Yashaswin. Seeing this decision, the Indian spectators present on the field started creating ruckus. Indian spectators were seen booing against Australia. Yashasvi was out after scoring 84 runs and missed a century.

Sunil Gavaskar responded

Everyone was surprised by this decision given by the third umpire. Since nothing was visible on the snicko meter, everyone expected the umpire to give Yashasvi not out. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, who was sitting in the commentary, was also surprised by this decision. Gavaskar said, ‘If technology has to be used then why are such decisions being given.’

Spectators showed cheaters’ boards in the stadium

Indian fans got angry after seeing Yashaswin out and cheaters boards were put up in the stadium. Apart from this, a board written SHAME was also displayed. Seeing this, even the umpire present on the field was surprised. Yashasvi discussed with the on-field umpire and expressed his views. Meanwhile, he was looking quite disappointed and angry.

This is not the first time this has happened

However, this is not the first time that the third umpire has given a wrong decision in this series. Something similar happened with KL Rahul in the first Test match played in Perth. The on-field umpire did not give Rahul out. Against which the Australian team asked for a review in which the snico meter proved nothing. The ball had hit Rahul’s pad which was visible on the snico meter, but there was no evidence that the ball had hit the bat. However, the third umpire dismissed Rahul.
