Fatwa on New Year celebrations: Now only two days are left for the new year 2025 and people have started preparing to celebrate it. Amidst all this, today the National President of All India Muslim Jamaat, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi has issued a fatwa on celebrating New Year on Sunday. He said, ‘It is illegal for Muslims to celebrate New Year.’ According to Razvi, this fatwa has been issued by Chashme Darfta Bareilly.

Fatwa announced on New Year

Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi said, ‘We have issued a fatwa regarding the New Year that it is not appropriate for young men and women to celebrate the New Year. It has been said in the fatwa that one should not celebrate or congratulate the New Year.

‘Whoever celebrates the New Year is un-Islamic’

Maulana said, ‘Celebrating New Year is a religious act of Christians and celebrating any non-religious festival is strictly against Muslims. It is illegal for Muslims to celebrate the New Year and especially Muslim young men and women should not celebrate the New Year. If anyone celebrates New Year, it is un-Islamic and any Muslim who celebrates New Year will be against Shariat.

Meanwhile, Barelvi protested against the news that author Salman Rushdie’s book ‘The Satanic Verses’ is available for sale three decades after it was banned in the country and said ‘the ban should continue.’
