Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Cheetah Vayu is camping in district Sheopur for the past three days. In the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, Dial-100 escorted him to the jungle, officials said on Wednesday. The forest team is tracking the movement of the animal.

One of the two cheetahs Agni and Vayu were released into the wild at Kuno National Park in Sheopur district earlier this month has been found that one of them have strayed out of the reserve forest and spotted advancing towards Ranthambhore Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan.

Cheetah Vayu was spotted near Veer Savarkar Stadium in Sheopur district, around 25 km from the national park on Sunday afternoon and was captured by some passers-by in their mobile phone cameras. Since then he is roaming in the city and its adjoining areas.

Police sources informed that the FRV of Dial-100 got the information about the Cheetah and for safety reasons, they tracked the Cheetah and also escorted him towards the jungle area. It is also informed that whether Vayu had gone deep into the jungle or had taken a u-turn and came back to the city, this will get clear on Wednesday night.

On the other hand, Uttam Kumar Sharma, field director of Kuno National Park said, We cannot disclose the current location of the cheetah (for safety reasons). But the cheetah is safe and is being monitored round-the-clock by the monitoring team.

A forest officer said that the cheetah may have strayed out of the core area of the national park to explore its territory.
