Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): It has happened for the first in the state that four agencies have swung into action to investigate a single case. Three central agencies have become active after the Lokayukta Special Police Establishment (SPE) carried out raids on the residential premises of a former constable of the Transport Department, Saurabh Sharma.
The sleuths of I-T Department found 52-kg gold and Rs 11 crore in a four-wheeler belonging to Chetan Singh Gaur. It was part of the raids conducted on Saurabh’s residential premises.
After the I-T Department, ED and DRI sleuths are also probing the case. Although none of the probe agencies were included in the inquiry, they arrived on the scene on their own and began an investigation. Since four agencies are probing the case, there is bound to be a dispute among them.
The row has already begun. SPE sleuths of Lokayukta carried out raids on Saurabh’s two residential premises. All the records related to the raids are with SPE. Because gold has also been found during the raids I-T, sleuths were also probing the case.
All the three agencies are keeping an eye on the records lying with SPE. Chances that SPE will share the documents with other agencies are thin. According to sources, SPE wants to probe the case on its own. A tug-of-war is going on between the agencies over gold and cash which the I-T Department confiscated.
The local police informed the I-T officials about it. On the other hand, the I-T Department said they had directly received the information. Nevertheless, the I-T Department has not informed the SPE about the seizure. When ED sleuths begin to probe the case, they will need the records lying with the SPE.
DRI is inquiring about who supplied gold and from where it came or whether it was smuggled from some other place into the state. The other agencies are trying to reveal the facts.
