Mumbai: The 27th metropolitan magistrate court at Mulund had a new litigant on Tuesday – a snake, which disrupted proceedings for almost an hour. The court was busy conducting the proceedings when a staff spotted the two-feet-long snake crawling on a heap of files.
The staff as well as the lawyers screamed and rushed out of the courtroom. The administration later called a snake catcher to rescue the reptile. However, the snake was not found and the proceedings resumed a few hours later.
Lawyers claimed that it was not the first time that a reptile had entered the court premises. The snakes were not poisonous and were regular guests at the court, which is located near fields. Nikesh Thakur, an advocate who lives nearby, said the area behind the court premises was once a forest.
