Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman Dr. S. Somnath has made a big announcement saying that India is aiming to send a man to the moon by 2040. He said that work is being started on this ambitious project. Besides, a target has also been set to establish an Indian space station by 2035. This is the most ambitious and long-term roadmap in the history of India’s space program.
Human mission to the moon: target of 2040
Dr. Somnath said that the goal of sending a man to the moon will be achieved on the 100th anniversary of the country’s independence. He says:
“When we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of independence, the Indian flag will fly on the moon. One of our passengers will go there and hoist the tricolor.”
This mission will touch new heights of technological and scientific achievements for India. Before this, ISRO is working on Chandrayaan-4 mission, the objective of which is to ensure safe landing and successful return to the Moon.
Space Station: Indian module to be installed by 2035
ISRO has planned to start this project regarding India’s space station from 2028. According to Dr. Somnath:
- Launch of space station module: in 2028
- Target of complete project: By 2035
With this ambitious project, India will emerge as a global power in the field of space research. This space station will be built completely with indigenous technology and resources.
15 year roadmap ready
Dr. Somnath said that ISRO has prepared a detailed roadmap for the next 15 years.
“We are working with a long-term view. After the success of Chandrayaan mission, we aim to further strengthen India’s capabilities in space.”
This roadmap includes many ambitious goals such as manned missions to the moon, space stations and advancement of payloads.
Fund of Rs 31 thousand crore from Modi government
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has approved a fund of Rs 31 thousand crore for these ISRO projects. Talking about this, Dr. Somnath said:
“This year will be great for us. For the first time we have a clear plan for the next 25 years.”
Chandrayaan-4: Work continues on safe return
ISRO team is currently working on Chandrayaan-4 mission. The main objective of this mission is to ensure that safe return of payload and spacecraft is possible after landing on the Moon. ISRO is engaged in developing the launch vehicle and related technologies.
