Farmers in Hingoli district incurred heavy losses due to heavy rains on September 1 and 2 during the Kharif season. The revenue and agriculture departments sent a report to the state government after conducting the panchnamas of the losses caused by the rain.

Four months later, the state government has sanctioned Rs 419.48 crore to compensate the losses of the farmers in the district. The district administration has initiated the work of uploading the list of flood-affected farmers on the government portal. After the list is uploaded, the affected farmers will receive compensation directly in their bank accounts.

As many as 2.96 lakh farmers incurred heavy losses due to the heavy rains in the first week of September. Farmers in all five talukas of Hingoli district suffered the wrath of floods. Standing crops were damaged, the soil eroded, and the farms became waterlogged. The state government had directed that a survey of the farmers’ losses be conducted immediately, and the report be sent to the government. Teams from the revenue and agriculture departments were assigned to conduct the panchnamas.

During the survey, it was found that 58,766 hectares of land were affected in Hingoli taluka, 60,619 hectares in Kalamnuri, 64,936 hectares in Sengaon, 62,189 hectares in Basmath, and 48,660 hectares in Aundhanagnath talukas. After the detailed survey, a report was sent to the state government. After four months, the government has sanctioned Rs 419 crore for the compensation of farmers in these five talukas.

Farmers in Sengaon taluka will receive Rs 93.32 crore, in Basmath Rs 89.65 crore, in Kalamnuri Rs 85.92 crore, in Hingoli taluka Rs 81.44 crore, and in Aundhanagnath Rs 69.14 crore.

Once the list of affected farmers is uploaded on the portal, a VK number will be generated for each farmer. The farmers, based on the VK number, will need to complete the KYC process at CSC centres. The eligible farmers will then receive the compensation in their bank accounts after completing all the necessary procedures.
