Revellers flying kites with nylon manja are causing a severe threat of injuries to the residents in the city for the past few days. Five persons were injured by the nylon manja at the same place at Champa Chowk on Monday in Aurangabad. The eye of one of these injured, named Mohd Imam (27, Nandanvan Colony), was saved narrowly. The police department has initiated a severe drive to stop the sale of nylon manja in the city.
On Monday, the police conducted a raid at Gawalipura and arrested an accused named Bilal Qazi and seized nylon manja worth Rs 21,000 from his shop.
Mohd Imam is a student and was going from Cidco to Nandanvan Colony at around 4.30 pm on Monday on his motorcycle. At the same time, a nylon manja passed by him and caused a cut below his eye. Fortunately, his eye was saved. He was immediately admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and sustained 17 stitches. Another person, Syed Sohail, sustained neck injuries and eight stitches.
The residents alleged that nylon manja is being sold openly in Raja Bazar and Buddhilane areas. This manja is causing injuries to the residents, especially those on two-wheelers. Hence, strict action should be taken against those selling nylon manja.
