Bhopal/Damoh (Madhya Pradesh): The Special Police Establishment (SPE) Lokayukta Police in Sagar caught the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Janpad Panchayat Patera, Bhura Singh Rawat, accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 on Tuesday. The action was taken after a complaint was filed by Rajkumar Mishra, Sarpanch of Kutari village.
After the complaint was verified, a 15-member trap team was formed and was deployed near the CEO’s office. As soon as the CEO took the bribe, the trap team caught him red-handed. The Lokayukta Police have filed a case under section 170 of the BNS for bribery.
According to information, the accused, Bhura Singh Rawat, is appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Janpad Panchayat Patera. According to DSP B.M. Dwivedi, the CEO had demanded a 10% commission to clear pending bills related to construction work worth ₹2 lakh in the village. The Sarpanch reported the matter to the Lokayukta, leading to an investigation.
A team of 15 officers, led by DSP Manju Singh, was formed to trap the accused. On Tuesday morning, the team executed the operation at the CEO’s office in Patera. As soon as the bribe amount was handed over, the CEO was caught red-handed by the officials. The Lokayukta police have registered a case and are investigating the matter further.
